INTERACTION BETWEEN METHYL ESTER OF JASMONIC ACID AND BENZYLADENINE DURING THE GROWTH OF EXCISED GREENING COTYLEDONS OF Cucurbita pepo L. (zucchini)
نویسندگان
چکیده
Treatment of excised marrow cotyledons (Cucurbita pepo L. (zucchini) growing under photoperiod with methyl ester of jasmonic acid (MeJA) resulted in a decrease of their fresh weight. This effect did not depend on the exogenously applied MeJA concentrations. Furthermore, in vivo labelling experiments showed an inhibition of the total protein synthesis. On the other hand, specific quantitative changes were observed in the spectrum of soluble proteins resulting in the formation of abundant jasmonate-induced proteins (JIPs). Benzyladenine (BA) applied together with MeJA neutralized the jasmonate action on the growth of the excised cotyledons, as well as on the in vivo protein synthesis. Similar antagonistic interaction between BA and MeJA was observed on the formation of JIPs both when the substances were applied together and in the case of subsequent treatment of cotyledons. The antagonism observed between the two plant growth regulators during the growth and development of excised greening cotyledons can be considered as one possible mechanism in the maintenance of plant cell homeostasis under stress conditions in the earlier stages of germination.

Effect of Methyl Ester of Jasmonic Acid, Abscisic Acid and Benzyladenine on Chlorophyll Synthesis in Excised Cotyledons of Cucurbita
Except for the first stages of illumination, exogenous methyl ester of jasmonic acid (MeJA) inhibited much stronger than abscisic acid (ABA) the accumulation of chlorophyll in excised cotyledons of C. pepo L. (zucchini) exposed to controlled light conditions. Benzyladenine (BA) applied in a combination with MeJA or ABA at equimolar concentrations completely neutralized their inhibitory effect. ...
متن کاملHormonal Regulation of Ribosomal Rna Gene Expression in Excised Cotyledons of Cucurbita
In the present work we have studied the effects of exogenously applied methyl ester of jasmonic acid (MeJA) and benzyladenine (BA) on rRNA gene expression in the model system of excised marrow cotyledons (Cucurbita pepo L. zucchini). Treatment of cotyledons with BA or MeJA resulted in a 2-fold increase and a 25–30% decrease in the endogenous nuclear RNA polymerase I activity, respectively. The ...

Plasmid pBG 35 contains the whole rDNA unit from flax (Linum usitatissimum L.) (Goldsbrough and Cullis, 1981). We cloned four different Eco RI restriction rDNA fragments of pBG 35 in the plasmid vector pBluescript SK+ (pBS). One of the subclones (p2.1) contained the most part of the 5 ́-end of 18S rRNA gene (1581 bp) and was used as a heterologous DNA probe in molecular hybridization experiments...

The effect of abscisic acid (ABA) and excess benzyladenine (BA) on the formation of shoot from tea (Camellia sinensis L. assamica × sinensis) leaf was investigated in this research. Callus was formed and grew well when explants were cultured on LS basal medium supplemented with (in mg/L) thiamine-HCl, 1.25; pyridoxine-HCl, 0.625; nicotinic acid, 0.625; indole-3-acetic acid (IAA), 30; naphthalen...
متن کاملResponse of False Aralia Plant to Gibberellic Acid and Benzyladenine Application
False aralia (Dizygothecaelegantissima) also known as spider aralia or threadleaf aralia, is grown for its attractive foliage. The long, narrow, dark green leaves with saw-tooth edges are coppery colored at first, but as they mature they turn dark green, appearing almost black on some plants. Field trials with False aralia (Dizigotheecaelegantissima) were conducted at the experimental greenhous...
